One of my areas of specialization is working with current and former competitive athletes. As a former Division I collegiate athlete, I understand the challenges and complexities of high-level training and competition and the impact it can have on one’s mental and physical health.
I have completed doctoral academic research on the experience of the body-mind connection in athletes, exploring the empowering and challenging effects of pushing the body in a competitive sports environment and the psychological impact of elite performance.
I work with athletes to help them address their unique challenges, including the intersection of athletic and other non-athletic identities, the experience of pain and injury, examining the unhealthy aspects of relating to the body, including disordered eating and body image difficulties, performance anxiety, negative self-talk and criticism, and other challenges.
For former athletes, coaches, parents, or family members, I’ll help you process and integrate your experiences and cope with losses and transitions.
Whether you’re currently training or competing at a competitive level, a former athlete, or participate in recreational sports, or if you want to explore athletics or fitness at a new life stage, I am here to help you think about the meaning of sports in your life and your athletic identity. Together, we will help you create a more healthy and integrated relationship with your body and athletics. To learn more, contact me to schedule a free initial consultation here.
